MOTIVATION: 01 - Dependent vs. Independent

Labels:
When we talk about human success and relate it with these two words 'DEPENDENT' and 'INDEPENDENT', what came through our mind? Most of us tend to be the dependent person rather than to be the independent, but why? The main reason is definitely to feel safe and to be secure. Do you agree?

When we have something or someone to rely on, we will feel protected and somehow the burdens on our shoulders seem to become lighter. We let others to control and to decide for us and we give them the power to lead the way to our very own lives. We even give them 100% faith and trust. Is it because they are more expert than us, is it because we really just don't care about our future or the direction of our lives, or is it because we simply didn't know what we are supposed to do? What if suddenly the decision that we asked them to make for us eventually pose a problem to us? In the end we blame them for their mistakes for whatever problems that they have caused but not blaming ourselves for being irresponsible.

Blaming the wolf would not help the sheep much.
The sheep must learn not to fall into the clutches of the wolf.
(Mahatma Gandhi)

What we don't realize is that when we rely too much on something or someone, we are actually preventing ourselves to go even further and to achieve the extra-ordinaries that we couldn't even imagine. When we lost our own trust and confidence towards ourselves and pass the duties to something or someone else, we are actually suppressing our own capabilities and great potentials within us without knowing it. Always remember that we have all the rights and the power to shape our own destiny.

Human beings have an inalienable right to invent themselves.
(Germaine Greer)

It is not wrong to be reliant once in a while, but if we could be more independent, we could really learn a lot from this world and we could eventually be as successful as or even more successful than those who have succeeded. The roughness of the world that we experience ourselves will only make us even stronger and tougher that eventually make us a better person. Start believing in ourselves and start to do simple tasks without the help of others is a good way to begin. Eventually the right path will be shown to us slowly or quickly depending on our effort.

Time is the coin of your life.
It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent.
Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.
(Carl Sandburg)

I really like this article so much. If you always ask other people to make the decision for you, you will learn nothing in life. It’s never too late to trust your own self and lead your own life. Have faith in yourself and ask help from God.
